What we were doing with the usable space in our home wasn’t all that smart.

We simply were not utilizing the area in our home very wisely.

And so much of that was due to all the junk that we had accumulated. Both my wife and I have parents who never through anything away. This probably rubbed off on us in some way because we just had so much stuff inside the central air conditioning of our home. It was crazy. There were duplicates of so many things and that was completely unnecessary. Just our clothes alone were insane. So we took a Saturday inside the air conditioning to start with our closets. We really cleaned out and ended up giving a lot of good clothing to charity. This was all such a big success that we started to focus on other areas of the house. We sort of took it section by section. And then, it was time to face the garage. This was truly the biggest waste of usable space in our home. Not only were neither of our cars inside the two car garage, it was filled with mostly worthless stuff. We started by getting anything that worked to charity. And then, it was load up for the dump. It took us a pair of weekends but we did it. We then called the HVAC company to have them install a ductless heat pump in order use part of the garage as a hobbies and craft area. I have been so pleased by the level of quality heating and air we now have in our garage. And we both love maximizing the usable space we have with the addition of the ductless heat pump.

It’s really hard not to be impressed with the heat pump.

But my new neighbors seem to just take the heat pump for granted.

Perhaps living where you need a gas furnace for heating in the winter makes you that much more aware of the heat pump. It’s amazing to me that I’m getting all my heating and cooling from one machine. I’m new to this area and my only regret is that I didn’t move down here earlier. That might have been a great thing for me to have done. But I’m here now and I’m loving every minute of this sort of winter. I’m just sorry that it’s already February. Shoot, I could take winter all year if I could keep this sort of weather. There is just the occasional need for heating in the winter. And the heat pump is more than up to the task. While the heat pump is need more for cooling, I’ve been super impressed whenever we’ve needed a bit of heating. The heat pump doesn’t even have to run very long to knock the chill out of the house. I’m not sure that we might just turn off the heat pump next winter and rely on a space heater for our sporadic heating needs. But of course, in a month or two, the heat pump will be encountering it’s true foe when the heating and humidity get here. But again, this method of residential HVAC is amazing when it comes to cooling and balancing the level of humidity in the air. I’ve only been down here just over a year but I’m just so impressed with what the heat pump can do.

All of this homeowner stuff is just new to me. So I’m doing my best to figure it all out. But after more than a few years into it, I realized that I have to get better. Given the amount of time I spend inside the commercial HVAC of our offices, I haven’t been very consistent. I’ve been there now for just over a decade. However, I’ve been taking on more responsibility as my career expands. By the time I get home to the central air conditioning at my house, I just want to do nothing but relax. My job is quite stressful and when I’m not working, I tend to recuperate so I can get back out at it the next day. This means I don’t spend the time doing stuff around the house like I should. Well I’m fairly neat and organized, that doesn’t go far enough. It’s the stuff like the yard in the HVAC equipment that just don’t get the priority treatment they should. When I bought this house, I invested a great deal in new HVAC technology. And I got some of the latest in residential HVAC as well. This stuff produces wonderful quality heating and air. Yet, I need to make the HVAC unit more of a priority. I started doing that by changing the air filter on time and just checking in on the residential HVAC. I also signed up for the HVAC service plan. This allows for seasonal HVAC maintenance along with other benefits. But the main objective was to not forget HVAC maintenance in the fall and again with a air conditioning tune ups in the spring. My HVAC equipment just simply has to be a priority in my house.

I wonder if most everyone else has taken the heat pump for granted the way I did? It’s like getting in your car or putting on your shoes, residential HVAC is just always there.

But until I spent a few hours with an HVAC professional, I really didn’t have a clue just how impressive our HVAC equipment really was. A friend of mine that I work with knows an HVAC technician. This man has a pretty serious passion for what he does and I can appreciate that. I try to be the same way in my work. I once rode with him on an HVAC service call. It was simply an HVAC maintenance service but I was glad to see him in action. But what I didn’t expect was an education in residential HVAC. Specifically, I learned about just how amazing the HVAC heat pump really is. This piece of HVAC technology basically set the standard for residential HVAC. And it could be argued that the heat pump changed the face of our nation and the economy by simply being able to move heat energy from one place to another. That’s just how simple this genius is. But it’s really such a combination of engineering genius and basic physics. Unless you live in a part of the country that requires a boiler a gas furnace for heating, a heat pump can provide heating and cooling. It’s amazing that the heat pump only has to reverse the refrigerant flow to bring heat inside the house. For sure, I won’t be taking residential HVAC for granted again.

Finally we turned to the indoor experts at our HVAC company

It was bad for quite some time. So having great quality indoor air now makes it all the sweeter. But for far too long, it just smelled terrible in our home. We have three boys, two dogs a cat and various gerbils. So there’s no end of odors in the house. When you throw in the fact that I love to experiment with cooking, the house smelled bad. We keep our house pretty sealed up to maximize the HVAC efficiency so that doesn’t help either. My wife and I just started doing whatever we could to try to mask the terrible odors in our home. The first thing we did was try all the deodorizers. The plugins worked for a bit but the odor in our home was far more intense then a plug-in could fix. We even tried scented candles. Again this was effective in adding a great deal of perfumed air over the strong odors. But it never really did anything to alleviate the odors. Finally, we did more than just throw sweet smells at the house. We did a bit of research online to learn how to effectively release a house full of odors. My wife and I are spent many a late night inside the central air conditioning of our home trying to figure out what to do. Finally we turned to the indoor experts at our HVAC company. We learned that to remove the odors we had to remove the bacteria from the air. So now we have a whole home air purification system that does just that.

I can enjoy the sunshine throughout the winter

When we’re finally to this part of the year where the summer heat has relented, I change things up a bit. During the time when it’s really hot, I get up really early and get on with the rest of my day. This is due to the fact that I like to get my outside activities done before the serious heat of the day comes in around lunch time. Because from that point on, I want to be inside the HVAC cooling of my house or somewhere the air conditioning is really pumping. So, I tend to wait and do my shopping until I can enjoy all the HVAC cooling in the stores while it’s so hot outside. But thankfully, another summer has come and gone. I’m sort of moving the other direction these days. The fall is here just like it is each year. I haven’t heard the air conditioning in some time now. But it’s still all sun and blue sky which I love so much. As we transition into the winter months, I’ll move more to soaking up all that sun inside my sunroom. This is one of, if not my favorite room in our entire home. It’s wonderful for me to be able to sit out there during any season thanks to the HVAC company installing a ductless heat pump. I can enjoy the sunshine throughout the winter. While we have a very mild winter that doesn’t require much from the heat pump, it’s still nice to be able to knock the chill out of the sunroom. So it’s true. My family really like the upgraded cabin and the residential HVAC in there. The cabin I’m speaking of has been in my family for generations. Over that time there haven’t been too many changes to the cabin. When it comes to structure, it will be here until the end of time. The beams holding up the house we’re actually milled right here in the woods from oak trees on the property. But it was never anything like residential HVAC or a creature comforts. Man, when I was a kid, the mattresses were stuffed with whatever you could find to add some space between you and the floor. It was indeed beyond rustic. My sisters and I have always preferred it that way though. But we also noticed that many in our families were staying home inside the central air conditioning rather than join us at the cabin. That seems like such a waste since the big resistance with the kids and spouses were the accommodations. So we decided to do something about that. It was fun being up there with my sisters as we spent a week outside of the central air conditioning of our homes working on the place. Along with lots of other upgrades, we had to HVAC professionals come out to install 3 ductless heat pumps. This will be great for summer because it can get thick without HVAC cooling. But we also have Wi-Fi and satellite TV installed. The kitchen appliances are new and we actually put in some nice beds and other furniture. All my kids are asking me when we can go to the cabin next so I guess our mission is complete.

Dealing with being cooped up inside our central air conditioning wasn’t easy on our family during the pandemic.

Being inside the air conditioning in my home with my husband and my kids was an ordeal. But it sure was better than it could have been I suppose. It took a long while for us to sort of get our bearings once the kids were at home with us. A week later, my husband was told his offices with his zone controlled HVAC would be closing. Thankfully he kept his job but we also had to endure pay cuts as well. There was a big part of our income that just wasn’t there anymore. And my part time job was gone as the retail shop I worked in closed up. The first thing on the list was the HVAC cooling for the summer of 2020 when it came to cutting costs. We sealed up the house and dialed up the thermostat to a higher setting than ever before. It was warm in our house and we had to break out the fans. However, our efforts resulted in saving a bunch of money that summer. And once we got to the holidays, it was a mixture of comfort with routine and a heavy case of being inside too much. But we kept on. Once we made it to that spring, I decided that we’d go the extra mile when it came to spring cleaning. I called the HVAC company and had them come out to do the ductwork cleaning and ductwork resealing. It was the perfect addition since we had spent so much time inside the house.

Hence, the reason I buy I case of HVAC air filters

Like clockwork, I slid in and right out of the home improvement store during Thanksgiving week. This is a yearly pilgrimage I make in order to protect my HVAC equipment for the upcoming Christmas holidays. I don’t get anything else at the hardware store on that trip but HVAC filters. Thanksgiving week is my signal to get an entire case of HVAC air filters. I also do the cooking in our house so that means I do the shopping. Perhaps that’s one of the perks of working from home. I spend my day working at the computer in the air conditioning of my home. Even though I get to control my schedule it can still get a bit tedious. I like the fact that I’m working from home very much. So it was no problem for me to snag the HVAC air filters as I was getting the turkey and all the other good stuff. The reason I have to get an entire case of HVAC air filters is for the holiday because of one weird reason. Well maybe it’s not that weird but my wife and I go totally overboard when it comes to candles in the house. We have a full collection of them and we are adding to them all the time. Our house probably has more than 75 candles burning during the course of one holiday season. So that’s a lot of candle wax that ends up getting stuck to the HVAC return and plastered across the HVAC air filters. Hence, the reason I buy I case of HVAC air filters. I literally have to change them out just about once a week to keep the HVAC equipment from unobstructed air flow.

In my mind, this whole process was supposed to be a big, giant hassle for me.

It was a pretty big process when it came to HVAC replacement as we even had to replace parts of the ductwork. I was glad to have left all of this in the capable hands of the HVAC professionals though. Maybe it was all the HVAC maintenance that led me into a false sense of security. Our heating and cooling was just always working. But that’s sort of how it went when it came to the quality heating and air in our home. We have always gotten seasonal HVAC maintenance since the HVAC unit was installed when we bought this place. And other than changing the air filter and being sure the HVAC cabinet outside was unobstructed. I don’t do much else. There’s never been one instance where the heating and cooling equipment wasn’t working. That’s pretty amazing and I guess that’s why I was so surprised when the HVAC technician told me it was time to replace the HVAC unit. That was when he came out to do the air conditioning tune up early last spring. The really that’s all I needed to hear to get me to the HVAC company and get the whole process started. However, all that hassle just didn’t materialize. The HVAC professionals took care of everything and I couldn’t have been more happy with the results.

I’ve always been a bit hot and cold when it comes to my feelings about winter.

This goes back to the days when I was just a little boy.

Of course, I loved the snow days and all the fun that was had. But I also seemed to get sick all the time during the winter. I was always the kid that had a cold. Thankfully, I grew out of that. Still though, I’ve noticed over the last few years that I’ll get a chest cold and it’ll take a really long time for me to get over it. Little did I know that this had everything to do with the HVAC ductwork. But I sure found out and it was nice to understand just what was going on. My doctor was actually the one who got me on to good indoor air quality. On a visit to see what he could do for those colds that just wouldn’t seem to go away, I noticed questions about the HVAC. This was certainly surprising as that was the last thing on my mind. The doctor saw the puzzled look on my face and explained how that most HVAC ductwork systems need cleaning. And I knew that our HVAC ductwork had never been cleaned since we owned the house and that was about 15 years. So once I got home I followed the doctor’s office, I called the HVAC company. I made an appointment for ductwork cleaning and ductwork resealing. The HVAC professionals were at my house 2 days later. Since they did such a thorough job of ductwork cleaning, I have to say that I’m breathing far easier than I have in a long time. And no continuing respiratory illness for me this winter thanks to clean HVAC air ducts.

I also have to add that my wife was one hundred percent in the right when it came to new HVAC technology.

To her credit, she was right from the very start. It has been nearly a decade since she first saw the new smart thermostats at the home improvement store. She was amazed by this HVAC technology. There’s something about electronic gadgets that thrill and interest my wife. If you have any sort of tech thing, she’ll want to hold it and take it for a spin. I don’t get 1 per cent of the functions out of even my phone. But my wife could teach a master class. Still, I resisted when she first wanted to get the smart thermostat. Along with all the things that she’s been right about when it comes to technology, there have been some pretty epic fails as well. So I wasn’t eager to invest in a smart thermostat that would then become obsolete after about a year. I also made the case that I had learned how to program the digital thermostat in order to save money on our HVAC costs. But eventually, my wife wore me down and the HVAC professionals came out to install the smart thermostat. But still, I have to give it up for my wife and I was wrong about thinking I could save as well as the smart thermostat does on utility costs. With the smart thermostat, we save nearly twenty percent more just the very first month over the very best I could ever do.
