I thought hotels were made to have HVAC

When traveling cross-country to see our sister last fall, I ran into numerous situations that left me scratching our head, and i thought every hotel was supposed to offer Heating, Ventilation, and A/C for their guests, even though I was wrong; There were numerous hotels that didn’t offer heating or a/c.

I thought it had to be a mistake on the travel guide, even though I was wrong.

I called the hotels in question and asked about Heating, Ventilation, and A/C. The front desk at the first hotel said their weather conditions was mild, and they didn’t have any use for Heating, Ventilation, and A/C. The rapidly increasing temperatures were seldom high enough to warrant a/c, and when Winter time arrived, the weather reMained mild. I would guess they would have Heating, Ventilation, and A/C for those peculiar days when the rapidly increasing temperatures got hot or cold, however they insisted it wasn’t necessary, and needless to say, I didn’t stay at the hotel during our travels. I was within twenty miles of the second hotel, and I made a cellphone call about the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system, and she told me it was a mistake in the brochure. They had heating, however no a/c, even during the summer, they often had cooler days, however they seldom needed a/c. I knew I would not stay at either hotel and wondered why anyone would; With global warming, you never knew what the weather would be like. There were plenty of other hotels that boasted Heating, Ventilation, and A/C and swimming pools. I liked the one that gave excellent Heating, Ventilation, and A/C, swimming pools, and free dinner every afternoon. That is where I spent 3 days, and broke up the monotony of traveling.

We don’t like risking the heating and cooling

We are the sort of people who prefer structure and sort of knowing what’s going to happen.

Getting hit with some sort of extreme challenge without any preparation is something we don’t like at all. Whether it’s in the commercial Heating & A/C of our office for the central a/c in our home. We do our best to manage risk. We are not necessarily completely averse to risk. Living this life without taking any risks is not living life at all. But at the same time, we do our best to be reasonable when it comes to risks. The fact is, there are many things that happen randomly we have to deal with. So the more we can manage expectations and risk, the better off we are when we do have to deal with something challenging. One thing we really try to avoid is risking anything that’s essential. That goes for the heating and cooling inside our apartment as well. We live in a region where quality heating and cooling is a big thing. Our winters are frosty and we need the gas furnace to keep us warm. The summer time is a scorcher so we need plenty of AC as well. This means we need to eliminate the risk of Heating & A/C down time by being proactive. We belong to the Heating and A/C service plan given by our Heating and A/C corporation. This ensures that the Heating and A/C system is getting proper Heating & A/C service in the fall and again in the Springtime. And that goes a long way towards eliminating any risk that the Heating & A/C equipment wouldn’t be able to supply the quality heating and cooling that we depend upon.

Ductless multi split

Guest house comes to life with ductless heat pumps

When I sold my company for a truckload of money, I knew that I didn’t need to worry about what to do next.

My wife had been planning all of that out for years.

I sold my company and cased out of that commercial HVAC work environment. I worked hard at something I knew would make a lot of money and it did. But leaving that commercial HVAC of the office and my company behind wasn’t that tough to do. It’s not like that job or that company was my passion. To be perfectly honest, just living is my passion. So once I had all the money I would never need, I knew that my wife would hook up the rest. And sure enough, she found the coolest place for us to live. The main house has four bedrooms and three baths but it needed a lot of renovations as the place was old. This place was built before there was even any residential HVAC. The previous owners had installed ductwork and we had a nice central air conditioning situation. But this place also came with a really cool guest house. And it sits off behind the house maybe a hundred yards. It’s the perfect spot to just chill out when we don’t have company. I took charge of renovating that space. And the HVAC contractor installed a pair of ductless heat pumps to provide all the quality heating and air that I would ever need. I then had some new flooring put down and picked out some furniture. This is also where I hung the biggest TV I’ve ever seen in my life. While not a man cave so much, it’s a great place to sneak some guy time.

The oil furnace didn’t need to shut down

Well I did learn my lesson and signed up for the Heating and Air Conditioning service plan the next day

After what happened almost a while back, I’m glad that I did indeed learn my lesson. Sadly, it was a difficult and overpriced lesson to learn. During that time, I was awakened late at night to the sound of my furnace failing. It was rattling and sort of banging around enough that it woke me. It didn’t take long for me to know it was the furnace and I started kicking myself. By the time I got 2 steps down to the basement, I could smell hot metal and I was so sure the furnace had overheated and was failing. Something had gone wrong and there was no way I was going to repair it. Honestly, I’m not mechanically inclined or handy when it comes to household stuff. And even more importantly, anything that has to do with the heating & cooling inside my home belongs to the Heating & Air Conditioning specialist. However, the reason I was kicking myself was because the furnace really didn’t need to break down. I forgot to get heating maintenance last fall as I’d been so busy. So I ended up with an immense Heating & Air Conditioning charge due to the emergency Heating & Air Conditioning service charge. But the concern itself was a switch that would have been replaced had I gotten the Heating & Air Conditioning heating maintenance done. Well I did learn my lesson and signed up for the Heating and Air Conditioning service plan the next day. So now I’m guaranteed to get Heating & Air Conditioning heating maintenance every fall. And so I’m feeling better about the heating in my home this year than I was last year.

Take care of HVAC with consistent maintenance

I don’t know about you but I tend to shy away from what seems to be an increasingly disposable economy.

Like there aren’t even TV repair people anymore.

If the TV is on the fritz, just buy another one. That’s a common theme these days in so many areas of our lives. I, on the other hand, like to get the most value for my money. That’s true from my clothes to my car to the HVAC equipment. I don’t buy cheap stuff that will last only a short while. Of course, spending less is appealing but what are we really getting for our money? I would argue not all that much since we end up having to turn around and spend more money to replace the cheap stuff that broke. When it comes to the quality heating and air in our home, I don’t mess around. The heating and cooling comfort of my family home is essential and vital stuff. So we have the latest in residential HVAC and the requisite advances in HVAC technology. For sure, this HVAC system was a major investment. But I’m happy to make an investment and then make sure that I take care of that investment. For me, that means consistent, seasonal HVAC maintenance. Actually, I belong to the HVAC service plan provided by our HVAC company. So I don’t even have to worry about remembering to schedule the appointments. I expect to get more than 30 years of quality heating and air from my HVAC investment. And regular HVAC maintenance will be key to achieving that goal.

HVAC humidity control is coming

I know that I’m just completely loving the fact that it’s winter.

That’s not the case for many people directly to the north of me.

I simply can’t imagine living with that sort of cold, snow and ice. Plus, I’d have to have a gas furnace or a boiler of some sort as the heat pump just couldn’t get it done in that sort of cold. For sure, I like this time of year because the heat pump isn’t running and our temperatures are almost perfection. It’ll be that way for the rest of this month and February pretty much. But once we start getting into the heart of March, the temperatures will rise. Thankfully, we have great residential HVAC in our home to take care of all the cooling we need. The heat pump really is a fascinating machine. While there have been advances in HVAC technology to be sure, the heat pump is essentially doing the same thing. The heat pump technology actually moves heat energy from one place to another. So in the case of air conditioning a home, the heat pump is moving the heat energy out so it can replace it with cooler air. But that process also has another very important and essential outcome. The heat pump is also moving out moisture from the air inside our home. This is essential because it mitigates the environment where mold and mildew would thrive. I don’t have to spend much of my year cleaning up mold and mildew thanks to the heat pump. And where we live, we get an overwhelming amount of humidity. So it’s really nice to be able to count on the residential HVAC when it comes to humidity control.

Heating costs plunge with winter prep

I’m really kind of amazed that I completed a home project that actually really worked out.

Actually, I’m just amazed that I completed a home project at all.

To say that I’m not all that mechanically inclined would be an understatement. And that seems weird given the fact that I was always at my dad’s feet while he was tinkering. That man was not the sort to sit inside the central air conditioning after work or on weekends. My dad was into all sorts of home improvement and hobbies. His workshop was essentially our entire garage. Since there was no heating and cooling out there, it was hot in the summer and cold in the winter. But dad was always out there working on something. Unfortunately, none of that rubbed off on me. So when I decided that I was going to do something about the high cost of heating our house, I wasn’t super confident I could do it. However, the HVAC company made it all just so easy. All I had to do was go to the HVAC company website and follow along with their winter prep checklist. If you want to save money on HVAC heating, you have to prep the house. And I was actually able to do all the stuff on the checklist. I was so thankful to learn all of this from HVAC professionals I can trust. And here we are in mid January enjoying the fruits of my labor. The house is the coziest it’s ever been during the winter. And after three months into winter, we are saving upwards of twenty percent on heating costs.

The heat pump and humidity control

It’s so nice to sit outside with my coffee in the morning.

  • I do this year round but during the winter, it’s particularly great because I can hear the birds.

This is due to the fact that the heat pump is not running nor is a chorus of heat pumps in the neighborhood. That’s because our winters are so mild that it’s quite unusual to have to flip the thermostat over the heating. That quiet allows me to hear the birds and all the critters do their thing while I get to enjoy my morning coffee. But when you live in this region the heat and humidity of the rest of the year is not too far from your mind. I know that it’ll be a few months and then the temperatures will begin rising to where we need air conditioning again. But that’s why we’re so lucky to have the king of air conditioning in the heat pump. The heat pump is such a versatile machine since it provides both the heating and cooling comfort we depend on. But really, the heat pump is all about air conditioning. We make sure that we maintain our HVAC unit properly with regular HVAC maintenance. So when it’s time to flip on the air conditioning, the heat pump is ready to go. But the heat pump also is providing more than just cooling comfort during the summer. The air conditioning is also balancing the humidity levels in our homes. And that eliminates an environment that is conducive to mold and mildew.

Winter prep did the trick

I’m so happy to be so cozy and warm this winter.

And so far, we are saving just over 20 percent on the heating costs. A warmer house with less heating costs? Where has that been since I moved to the north? Well, I guess preparing my house for winter was yet another thing that I had to learn about winter. Where I’m from, there’s not much to winter. Now and again we would have to flip the thermostat over to heating if we had a cold snap. But mostly, the winters I grew up with needed no more than a hoodie and maybe a pair of pants occasionally. That is certainly not the case in this region. This sort of cold is the kind that cuts right through you just stepping out the door. I have to say that dealing with this kind of weather in the winter was way tougher to get accustomed to than I thought it would be. I’ve been up here now 6 years and I’m still not fully acclimated to the winter cold. But I sure scored big by listening to a neighbor when it came to preparing my house for winter. Our home is a bit on the older side although it’s structurally in great shape. But with any older structure, gravity comes into play and produces gaps throughout the structure. So that’s what winter preparation really is all about. I spent a few weekends in the fall tightening up the house by sealing up all the gaps and cracks I could find. I also put down some new insulation in the attic as well. I’m amazed by the difference and am so thankful for all the saving when it comes to heating costs.
