We knew my buddy and I needed to do a lot of work on the house when my buddy and I moved in.
We obtained a fixer-upper, wanting to remodel the house to suit our needs.
We didn’t think the work would need to be done as soon as my buddy and I moved in, or my buddy and I would have waited to move in the following Spring. There was such a draft that went through the house, you would have thought the wind was blowing inside instead of outside. We realized there was no insulation in the walls, plus the boiler could not keep up with it. Within two months, my buddy and I had to have work done on the boiler, but the repairs would not make much difference until my buddy and I had the walls insulated, plus the windows upgraded. The price of oil had risen harshly, plus our entire budget was being spent on fuel for the boiler. My partner plus I talked about calling a corporation plus having them install insulation in the house, plus moving into an house while the windows were being upgraded. We needed insulation throughout the entire house, up-to-date doors, plus up-to-date windows. We could not afford an apartment. My mother called plus asked how the house was, plus I burst out crying. I told her the boiler was running regularly, plus it was still chilly in the house. I worried about what was going to happen in the Summer with the air conditioning… She invited my partner plus I to stay with her while the work was being done. At least my buddy and I had excellent heating, ventilation & A/C for the next five months.
