Fortunately, the wiring was safe, but,she had no heat or air conditioning and had no clue how to go about fixing the problem. I advised her to research the ratings and reviews of local HVAC service and supply companies and then to choose two to call. I told her that, because she had no regular HVAC company, she should get two opinions on the repair or purchase of her HVAC unit. I explained to her that she needed a company who will do it all. She needed to get her air ducts examined for leaks. I was there to ask questions when both HVAC technicians arrived. Both of the HVAC technicians agreed that my sister would need to purchase a new HVAC system and I helped her decide which ones were best. There were many to choose from and I was afraid that she wouldn’t make the best decision. We also went over the accessories. My sister was thrilled to get a whole home air purifier to help her with her allergies. Since both of the HVAC technicians said basically the same thing, I helped my sister choose the one that offered the HVAC service plan where she will receive regular HVAC maintenance service without having to remember, which is really helpful for someone who is as forgetful as my sister is.
