My company had a conference recently.

We end up flying a few states over to a major city that hosts this conference.

This is a yearly event, but it was a really welcome relief this time around. My home has been without an air conditioner for about a week. I’m hoping I will be able to pay whatever maintenance fees are required to get it back up and running when I return from this conference. In the meantime, I will finally be able to enjoy some very relaxing air conditioning within my hotel room. I had spent the last few nights in my own home quite sweaty and uncomfortable with the air conditioner completely off. I tried to use fans for relief, but of course, it’s not quite the same as having an air conditioner going. That’s why I was so happy to discover that my hotel room’s air conditioner made the room absolutely, delightfully comfortable. Another great thing is that I am the only one among my co-workers that managed to get a room for myself. There was some sort of mix up with the booking of rooms that allowed for this, and I couldn’t be happier! I don’t know what the temperature preferences of my coworkers are, but I’m so glad that I would not have to deal with any other opinion but my own when it came to what to set the thermostat to! I decided to drop the temperature to a breezy 65° that night, and I slept like an absolute rock!

I went to the annual HVAC convention for work, plus I will confess that I got a little crazy.

• I have been in this company for almost eight years now, but this was the first time I had gone to the national convention plus trade show.

I went there with the best of intentions, however I didn’t have any idea how much fun that town could be. Not to mention that most of the other people there were intent on getting wild and crazy, I just got swept up in the action! I doubt my bosses will allow myself and others to ever attend another trade show or industry convention ever again for as long as I work there… Before the convention I didn’t suppose HVAC techs could get so wild like that! Like most conventions, the afternoons were filled with meetings, presentations, plus discussions about the newest and freshest innovations in HVAC technology plus equipment. I saw an absolutely interesting lecture on a new brand of dehumidifier that worked 72% more efficiently than any of the other existing models. It was after the HVAC convention closed down for the night when the parties started happening. It seemed as if every HVAC tech there was hosting a small celebration in their hotel room. I went from suite to suite having drinks plus meeting people plus having a generally amazing time. The next morning it was once again time for heating plus cooling demonstrations, however I was too hungover to attend. I made it to 1 session about solar powered space heaters, but then I got violently ill plus had to leave early. After my poor behavior, the bosses at my HVAC supplier are not content with me.

I love having my own reading room at home.

A quiet site of reflection, where electronic devices are not allowed, and I can just relax, read, or meditate. Some months ago I moved to the Pacific Northwest for an exciting job opportunity. I converted a spare room into a reading room. It was quite appealing, with a huge picture window overlooking the ocean plus the beach. It didn’t take long for myself and others to realize that many of my most treasured books were starting to grow mildew! Although the temperature control seemed excellent, I lacked the humidity control I needed, so I instantly bought a new dehumidifier. In this section of the country the temperature is undoubtedly mediocre plus pleasant through most of the year, so my new condo doesn’t even have an air conditioner. In the old condo I kept the AC running most of the year, but here I can open the windows plus let in a breeze whenever it gets stuffy. I was not aware that the air conditioner also circulates the air of the home, running it through filters plus removing excess humidity. Since there was no AC plus no air circulation, those moisture levels were getting too high plus damaging my best books. This presented a greater problem, because I knew over time that excess humidity could foster the growth of mold plus mildew on the walls of the home itself. With that in mind I bought a couple more dehumidifiers plus sited them strategically throughout the house. With the dehumidifiers on site, my home is even more comfortable than before.

Many years ago, comic books were considered to be cheap and disposable.

They were printed on thin paper using bad quality ink, they didn’t cost much, plus it was expected they would be thrown away after you read them. As most people knows, currently old comic books are incredibly extravagant. It is super strenuous to try and maintain them in excellent condition because of the poor materials, but it is possible. Here are a few expert tips for keeping your comic collection in the best possible condition, so they retain the most value, first of all, buy a dehumidifier. This is not an option – if you have comics you need a dehumidifier in the room with them, running at all times. It does not cost too much money to buy a humidifier, however I suggest you to buy the nicest brand you can afford, and don’t cheap out plus get the cheapest dehumidifier on the market, because as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you are the type of man that has an extensive collection that is potentially worth a lot of money, then I suggest you to get a dedicated temperature control system. This will cost a couple thousand bucks at least, but in many cases it is worth the investment in HVAC. I suppose a guy who has a comic collection valued for over 500,000 dollars, so for him it was imperative to buy a whole new temperature control system. To protect the resale value of his comics, he needed superior indoor air pollen levels plus temperature controls 24/7. That is a drastic example, but it shows you how important air quality is.

I have a big problem with controlling myself sometimes, especially when I have had a few drinks, then last year at the Xmas celebration I got way too hammered plus caused a bit of a scene.

Then I slept with my boss’s fiance, which caused an even greater scene.

Bob was the business I worked for, plus when he found out what I did he punched me, fired me, plus then punched myself and others again. It got worse. Bob was very friendly with all the other major business owners in town, so he called around plus had myself and others blackballed. Even though I was a certified HVAC tech with many years of experience, nobody was ever going to hire myself and others again. I only had 2 choices – I could either transport to a new town plus get an HVAC job there, or I could try to get creative. In this section of the country my nice friend and I have a lot of oddballs who love to stay “off the grid” plus away from government interference. These people never call the local power supplier or the HVAC dealership because they don’t use iPads or ATM cards. These are the folks I had to target! I started offering myself services as a freelance HVAC service tech who worked for money plus didn’t ask any nosy questions. My 1st buyer was a pot farmer who needed a new heating idea plus a ventilation idea for his underground growing room. After that word got around, plus I started getting more new HVAC buyers. It’s still very strenuous making ends meet, but since my new HVAC company is totally off the books I don’t have to stress about paying taxes or licensing fees.

Call me an eternal optimist, however I always like to look on the brighter side of any situation.

A long time ago I was more dour, plus a very emo type of man.

To myself and others the glass was always half empty, never half full. After a while I just got tired from being so irritated plus distraught all the time, so I decided to make a major change. I started doing yoga, meditating, plus smoking a lot of pot. I made a concentrated effort to let go of my stress plus my worry plus just embrace the moment. Currently I am going through some complications at home, however I continue to cast everything in a positive light. When my HVAC idea died, I knew that I didn’t have enough money to have it serviced. I didn’t even have enough money on hand to pay an HVAC expert to tell myself and others what the main problem was. I could have gotten depressed, but instead I realized that this was the only period of the entire year when I could survive a few weeks without air conditioner. I live way down south, where my nice friend and I basically run our AC systems 9 to 11 months a year. My AC happened to chop right in that sweet spot where the temps were nice plus the humidity was quite low. In other words – if my air conditioner was going to break, this was the best possible time for it to happen to me. Now I have a few weeks to save up a little more money, which hopefully will be enough to cover the HVAC service costs so I can have it back before the brutal summer time arrives.

Being a line cook at the pizzeria is not n straightforward job. I worked on the line for various years before earning an important promotion. Now I manage the dining room plus the dining section both, handling the staff plus ensuring the clients have a pleasant dining experience. The comfort of our diners and patrons is the most important thing, but it doesn’t pay to neglect the employees. When the other employees get uncomfortable or unhappy, it translates into poor service plus exhausting food. I recently got a new ventilation idea for the dining room, plus I hope it will mean an update for the performance of my entire staff. The importance of air quality in a dining room cannot be overstated, because it’s not just the cooks. Happy and comfortable chefs make better food, but poor indoor air pollen levels can make even the best food taste horrible. With so much smoke plus dank moisture in the dining room, the air duct gets dirty fast.

I consider myself to be a tolerant person, but even I have my limits.

When the AC service tech came over for a house call, I could clearly smell the intense smell of booze on him.

It didn’t seem that he had a beer with supper, but that he had spent all night soaking in a bathtub full of vodka. It made my eye water just catching the smell of him. I told the guy that I was canceling his appointment, plus then I called his boss Ed. Normally I am not such a Karen, but here was an alleged HVAC pro who was driving around town while odoring drunk! I called the HVAC business, a guy named Ed who I have done company with for various years. I explained what had happened, plus that a single 1 of his HVAC techs was drunk driving plus showing up to residences in such a state! Ed was sympathetic, plus apologized profusely. It turns out I was the seventh HVAC buyer who had called Ed that morning, all complaining about the same tech. Ed was undoubtedly kind, plus said he would come over to my home the following morning plus do all the HVAC work for free, as a way of apologizing for the incident. I will never turn down a free air conditioner tune-up, but my main issue was this drunk guy driving all over town. If this idiot is drunk on the job plus crashes the van or hurts somebody, it would put Ed’s small HVAC supplier out of company for good.

If it seems that I treat my young sibling too drastically, that’s because you don’t suppose him the way I do. Max has always been a screw-up, since my nice friend and I were kids. I went to college, got perfect grades, started a good career, plus bought a house. Max dropped out of college, went to jail a couple of times, plus lived in his car. When someone stole his car, Max found himself with absolutely nowhere else to go, so he showed up on my doorstep, but although Max is my sibling, he’s also a bum, so I laid down a lot of rules for him to stay here. I work as an HVAC tech, which means I am gone from my home for 50 or 60 hours a week. I told Max that if I wasn’t home, he had to stay out in the garage. I offered him a cot, a mini-fridge, plus a space furnace for comfort, but wouldn’t let Max in the main home unless I was there to supervise. What can I say, I don’t trust him! It only took a few afternoons before Max broke the rules, plus I found out because of the smart temperature control. Max doesn’t suppose how much data my smart temperature control retains. Max started sneaking into the home while I was at work plus changing the settings, then changing them back again before I got home. Max didn’t suppose the smart temperature control keeps a time-stamped log of all adjustments, so Max thought he was getting away with it! Now I have to change the locks plus kick Max out.

I am in such trouble with the boss. I’m distraught that I might even lose my job over it; Apologising won’t do myself and others much good, because I’ve already done that various times already. If I had my own time component I would go back plus make other choices, but as it stands I may be permanently screwed – however I have no 1 to blame but myself. I was sent to attend the pacific northwest trade show, which is the industry convention of the year, and since I was the only person going from our HVAC supplier, I needed to take a lot of notes plus build some bridges with other regional outfits. Instead of focusing on heating plus cooling systems, I got distracted by the widespread availability of legal marijuana in that city. I was late to a couple of the new product showcases, which meant I didn’t get the information my bosses wanted; Even worse, there was a roll-out for a brand new brand of solar powered space heater, plus I fell asleep in the middle of it! This was both rude plus disrespectful, but it also made my bosses at the HVAC supplier look bad. If I’m truly blessed they will keep myself and others on staff, perhaps transferring myself and others to the HVAC sales team, where I can’t do much harm. The worst aspect of this situation is that I had an amazing time at the HVAC convention, plus now they will never let myself and others go back again. Maybe it wasn’t the heating plus cooling convention that was the fun part, maybe it was just all that weed.

I don’t like working in an old office, especially with a break room that lacks even a basic vending machine inside.

Even my previous job gave us the option of purchasing these kinds of treats while on break, so I assumed the current one would be the same.

That was a mistaken assumption for sure. I also figured that the few nice people I met on the first day would be my primary coworkers, but that also turned out to be false. Instead, I got stuck with a team of social shut-ins and recluses who have difficulty with basic human emotion and communication. I understand that these guys and gals would rather be working from home, but we have a job that must be done in a team. Sadly, the dismal breakroom and annoying coworkers just scratch the surface for why I don’t particularly like working at this company. Another big reason is the air quality inside. It starts with the terrible air conditioner that barely stops me from sweating through my shifts in the summer season. The furnace is terrible as well, often leaving me shivering at my desk during the peak cold temperatures of January and February. I typically end up wearing warm clothing or trying to sneak a space heater underneath my desk with an extension cable running to my desk’s electrical strip. On top of insufficient heating and cooling, this office’s indoor air gives me the worst allergy symptoms. I don’t know if it’s just an abundance of airborne dust or if there are fungal and bacterial problems as well. Air purifiers in each zone throughout this office would go a long way towards mitigating issues related to air quality. I know that my breathing would immediately improve with the implementation of air purifiers here at work.
