It was also winter, and we had to prepare for the cold season.

Hay had been stacked up; other animal and poultry feeds had been brought. The only thing remaining was partitioning the new barn and for the HVAC technician to install a smart HVAC, which was very energy efficient according to the HVAC technician. We also wanted to add a whole-home air purification unit to enhance the indoor air quality in the farmhouse and maintenance of the HVAC equipment. Preparations for winter always seemed like a never-ending list of things to do. We also needed an extra air filter to re-insulate the old barn because losing heat during winter will result in very high energy bills at the end of the month. I love spring compared to the other seasons; the smell of morning air after a drizzle and reading a book on a rainy afternoon. It is also when we call for home service from the local HVAC company to avoid emergencies during winter and summer. The air purification system for the main house was always well-maintained. The new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning installed in the new barn would have state-of-the-art air purification to help make the animals comfortable. Their comfort meant more products from them, resulting in a profit. Air purification is essential not only for human beings but also for animals. The article was long, so I skimmed through the information I thought I needed and even called the number the home service company had provided.

I ordered an air purification system, waited for the HVAC technician to deliver it, and showed me how it worked. When the HVAC professional came, he showed me how to use it. Pierre was the name on his work tag. As he was setting it up, Pierre asked what had inspired the purchase, and I told him about the article I had read on their company website. He was happy that I had taken the time to read it since he had personally authored it. Marc trusted me to decorate it however I wanted, and with a larger budget, I was able to be a bit more creative. Prior to decorating, I contacted my friend Amanda for some interior design ideas. Over the years, when I needed interior design help with my home, I have always contacted her and have never given me bad advice or ideas. So, I knew she would be the perfect person to consult for interior design ideas. Amanda is so good at her craft that after seeing the renovated condo for 10 minutes, she already had a vision in her head. And the interior design idea that she came up with was out of this world. I am glad that she was able to help me with the condo and after decorating, it was rented in record time.

My number one tip for you would be to make sure they are a certified heating and air conditioning specialist.

Don’t just take their word for it, otherwise, you might get in a bad situation like I am currently in. Right now, it is above 90 degrees outside, on the fast track to over 100 degrees. And outside, I have a broken air conditioning machine that has parts everywhere. So let me tell you a story of how I got myself in this mess. When my air conditioner broke down a few days ago, I wanted to save money as much as I could. I knew A/C repair is quite costly, especially from the local heat and A/C corporations. So I wanted to see if someone online could possibly do the HVAC repair work. Well, luckily, or should I say, unluckily, I found someone who claimed they were a professional cooling specialist. My fatal mistake was paying them ahead of time. As soon as they arrived at my home, I paid them up front. Then I let them get to work on my central air conditioner. Oh, what a mistake that was. This supposed HVAC worker was successful in taking apart my central cooling device, but that was in. They then left, leaving me with this mess. And now I am hundreds of dollars short too. I can’t believe this happened to me. Next time, I am definitely getting a certified cooling worker, I won’t let this happen again.

I can always tell when someone is an expert in their field.

I know because when I ask questions, they answer flawlessly, and they are able to make their way around their machines as if they were born to do it.

The example I am thinking of is the HVAC professional that comes and does our HVAC maintenance every year. We have a HVAC tune up in the spring and the fall, right before the harsh seasons. Out of curiosity, and slightly because I wanted to test this heating and cooling specialist, when he first arrived at our home, I asked him some A/C questions, some difficult, and some easy. He answered them instantly and was correct every time, I was impressed. Now, why would I bother asking a HVAC worker these questions, I mean, they are a heating and A/C worker, so they should know what they’re doing right? Well, not always. I have in the past had heating and A/C specialists that would come to my home, and they would have no idea what they’re doing. I would watch them from my window work on the central A/C, and some of these cooling “professionals” would be poking at the cooling component like it was a foreign object. Shaking my head, I made sure to start asking questions to the cooling techs at the start. I want an actual certified cooling technician. Thankfully, like my current A/C technician, there are some fantastic cooling professionals that know what they’re doing.

I work on these stories seven afternoons a week.

My workweek isn’t that bad because I only work about three hours in the afternoon, and driving to work in rush hour traffic is a thing of the past.

I used to have stressful engineering tasks, but I quit when I was 32 years old in search of a strange life. That search has taken me all over the world and allowed me to experience the performing arts for nearly 20 years, which I would not have been able to do with such a demanding workweek. Although the pay for repairing air ducts pales in comparison to that of an engineer, working from home part time is far preferable to working 60 hours a week as an engineer for a local contractor supplier. If I had to be in the office at 7 a.m. every afternoon like I did in the corporate world, I would never have been able to do standup comedy in clubs late at night like I did. I’d still be there now, building HVAC systems and counting down the afternoons until retirement, something my other coworkers are still doing some 25 years later, now I have all of these memories from 1500 or so shows, performing in front of audiences in various countries, and I won’t regret not quitting that task when I’m old and retired. If I were still working full-time on heating and cooling components, I would not have had the opportunity to live life and experience things like I have. So I’m glad I took a chance.

This week is Mother’s Day, did you call your mother? Well, by the time you read this, it will be too late for that, so hopefully you called momma, and hopefully you still have a momma.

My mother is still alive and, hopefully, will be for many years to come because she is the sole survivor of my family from the old days.

I had three grandparents about 15 years ago, but they all died within six months of each other. I can still see my grandfather cooking chicken in the air-conditioned kitchen of their small lake house while I sat in the entryway drooling and waiting for it. His secret to unquestionably good fried chicken was to fry it hot, 369F, to seal in the juice and make it unquestionably crispy and brown on the outside. He was a Heating and Air Conditioning rep who worked a lot, but he still had time to cook us some delicious meals when he got home from work. My friend and I grew up living with our Grandparents because my parents divorced and had no money to support us when we were only 20 years old. My father built an empire of Heating and Air Conditioning suppliers and worked in the heating and cooling industry until he died at the age of 79. He used all of that money to buy 25 houses, and it will be passed down to us after my stepmother dies, though she will genuinely outlive me, so I won’t see a dime, and I couldn’t care less.

I need to get outside because I’ve been in the flat all afternoon, and it’s now half past one o’clock in the afternoon, and I feel like a caged animal that wants to run.

This time, instead of riding the bike, I’ll take a long walk to the end of the world and back so that when it’s time to sleep in the evening, my legs won’t be as tense as they have been from not walking.

I’ve been sick with the flu for a week and haven’t been working out as much as I usually do. My geo heat pump did arrive last evening, so it’s not all bad news because I’ll have heat in this flat again after it’s installed. I’ll rest for a few more afternoons first, though, because I’m still tired and don’t want to overdo it and get sick again. My air quality system is doing a good job of filtering out all of the germs in the flat, and I just cleaned the HEPA filter last night, so everything should be back to normal here soon. I kept all of the windows closed in the flat for a week because I didn’t want any dust to get in and aggravate my dust allergies, which would be bad for getting rid of the flu. I’ll hire a heat pump installation technician to assist me next week, and then my good friend and I should be back in this flat. I can’t wait to finally enjoy the warmth and comfort of my newly installed geo heat pump and share this cozy flat with my good friend once again.

Okay, the rain has stopped, and I can now go for the hour-long walk I planned to take earlier today.

I just talked to my bandmate, and my good friend and I were thinking about playing later, but I’m not sure I’m in good enough shape yet.

I still have a lingering cough, which would undoubtedly interfere with singing, so I may have to wait another afternoon before performing in front of an audience. At the very least, I can get some fresh air and sunshine by getting out and walking around. The home services supplier is open today, and I’d like to stop by and see if I can get some energy-saving tips from them while I’m out and about. I had some large power bills last fall and winter and don’t want to go through that again anytime soon because it nearly bankrupted me after I paid them. I ran the main furnace a lot last winter, and I believe it has a low SEER rating and is using far more power than it should, so it may need to be replaced soon, but I’ll check with the pros to see what they say. The weather has been pretty mild lately, so I don’t think I need to worry about power bills for a while, but it’s better to be safe than sorry and get some information on how to cut them down when the temperatures start to rise this summer season. Part of me wishes to return to the United States to be closer to my family, but another part of me wishes to stay here in order to pursue my musical dreams.

So, which part do I listen to? It is undoubtedly difficult to try to live in both places part-time, and I am unsure what to do. However, perhaps the answer will come to me naturally, and I will be guided in the right direction in some way. Maybe if I moved back home, I would find myself feeling empty working for the local contractor I was working for and running in the same old mouse race as before. I moved here eight years ago to do comedy and didn’t have this yearning to come back and be with my family and friends, and maybe this feeling came after my ex and I broke up a year ago. The local contractor in town advised me to follow my heart, but my heart is telling me two contradictory messages, and I am not sure which to believe. I suppose time will tell me what to do, so doing my Heating and Air Conditioning rep task and focusing on my music may be the best thing to do right now when I am not sure which direction to transfer in. I also believe that if cherish enters my life, it will be a good sign that I should stay where I am, but this has yet to happen. For the time being, I will clean my washable filter in my apartment.

I haven’t gone outside yet because it started raining about an hour ago when I was about to leave.

I’ll write a few more of these stories before going for a long walk with my good friend with my umbrella if it’s still raining.

I need to get some exercise because trying to sleep in the evening after not exercising for several afternoons is proving difficult because my legs keep twitching and I keep tossing and turning. I suppose an hour walk should solve that problem, and this local contractor is just far enough away from where I live to walk there and visit an elderly friend. I’ll try to get some exercise later when the rain has stopped, but having the flu for the past week has left me with little energy to do anything. My dear HEPA filter salesman told me that this is a cleansing and that I needed to get sick in order to shed the old me and make way for a new one. I simply want to resume playing music in our band, as my good friend and I used to do on a regular basis, and to get back on track with writing new songs. I am an air conditioning expert, but I can’t do much with my current condition, so I will rest a few more afternoons and should be ready to work for the new contractor and resume life as I know it. I am thankful that my body has healed me from this terrible cold and that my immune system is still strong.
